LEUSD Writes! (Launch) 3rd - 5th Grade and Special Education Teachers Day 1 of 2 (PAID)
Join us for a two-day launch of LEUSD Writes!, focused on practical, evidence-based writing instruction that helps students take ownership of their work. This session will model a structured process students can use to lead themselves through writing—from generating ideas to revising with purpose.

Through hands-on learning, teachers will experience the process as learners and apply it directly to their own classroom content. Leave with clear routines and tools to support more independent, capable writers.

This launch is just the beginning. Ongoing professional learning will support teachers as we continue this work across the three writing genres in elementary.

OTR - Opportunities to Respond
Monday July 27, 2026 1:30pm - 2:45pm PDT
Increase Student Engagement
Anita Archer reminds us that students should be responding 3 to 5 times per minute (yes, per minute!). No cloning machine required just smart OTR strategies! In this session, you’ll walk away with practical, creative ways to multiply student responses and keep every learner engaged from bell to bell. Whether you’re teaching kinders who can’t stop moving or seniors who won’t look up from their hoodies, these strategies will help you turn passive listeners into active participants. All ideas are grounded in Anita Archer’s classic book, Explicit Instruction
